Description

Rosette nebula. Taken from my garden using a 72mm refractor and a Mirrorless DSLR for a total exposure time of 6hrs. This nebula named for its floral resemblance glows red due to ionized hydrogen atoms, charged by the stars in the 4 million year old star cluster at its center. This nebula is about 5000 light years from my garden where I spent 4 nights imaging it in March and used an Lpro light filter to help eliminate light pollution and bring out some more details of the nebula's 'petals'.
