Description

NGC-3718 is a 10.7 magnitude galaxy in Ursa Major, located just below the SW corner of the Big Dipper's bowl. It is highly distorted due to its interaction with neighboring galaxy 11.4 magnitude NGC-3729. Below NGC-3718 is the compact galaxy group Hickson 56, consisting of 5 very small 15th & 16th magnitude galaxies, which lie at a distance of over 300 million light years.
