Description

VdB 152 also known as Barnard 175 is a reflection nebula atop of a dark Bok globule located about 1400 light-years away in the constellation Cepheus.

This was captured on my second day at the Bortle 4 dark site and the sky was completely moonless and the milky way was visible to the unaided eye.  Because of the bright stars in this subject, I had to carefully balance my exposure time to make sure I captured much of the dust and the Ha jets coming from the nebulae even though I was only using an IR cut filter.  This subject was a little challenging to process as the stars overwhelmed the frame but I wanted to make sure the stars were not reduced and only sharpened as they play a major role in this reflection nebula.  I enjoyed the journey to the finished image from 100 miles to hours processing but it was a rewarding challenge.  Special thanks to @Luke Newbould for his suggestion that I capture this target

Clear Skies!
Dave
