Description

Barnard 72, known commonly as the Snake Nebula, is a dark nebula in the constellation Ophiuchus.

This RGB image consists of 69 frames totaling 11.5 hours of exposure time. Individual exposures include 20 - 600 second red filtered frames, 22 - 600 second green filtered frames and 27 - 600 second blue filtered frames captured using a Takahashi FSQ-106 refractor, QSI583wsg CCD camera, Astrodon GenII filters and Astro-Physics Mach1 German equatorial mount. Image calibration and processing was accomplished using PixInsight.
