Description

To me, this region has never resembled a prawn.  Instead, I see a mighty bird rising up, perhaps the mythical phoenix or even an eagle, as on the coat-of-arms of Germany, Austria, or even the Двуглавый Орёл (two-headed eagle) of Russia. Although this region is technically accessible from southern Arizona, it's only 10-12 degrees above my horizon.  For this reason, I added it to my list of targets while visiting the Southern Hemisphere's skies last month from Western Australia.  I've always wanted to capture a decent shot of this region.  It makes a big difference when something is near the zenith!  I blended Bortle 1 natural RGB data from my OSC camera with some dual narrowband filtered data (with Optolong's L-eXtreme filter) to augment the nebulosity while striving to maintain more natural-appearing color.
