Description

The North America Nebula in Hubble palette (SHO). It's an emission nebula in Cygnus. Captured this in Bortle 4 skies (20.74 using my SQM-L). 18 x 300 sec Ha, 12 x 300 sec OIII and 8 x 300 sec SII. The difference in noise and detail between the Bortle 4 and my normal Bortle 7/8 light pollution even with narrowband filters (Baader 8nm) was pretty significant. The Ha in particular with only 18 subs was close to noiseless. The halo's around my OIII filters however were just as bad as in the city. So it's not light pollution causing it (or at least not solely responsible). Processing was light.

MureDenoised Ha, OIII and SII. Integrated all three channels into a Luminance. MaskedStretch. Then used the SHO-AIP script to combine and mixed the channels a bit. Applied an SCNR. Then HDRMultiscaleTransformation. Then a LocalHistogramEqualization and finally a light DarkStructureEnhance. Curves, Saturation and Hue all post processed in Photoshop.

Description: Reprocessed to give it a bit more bite. Used WeightedBatchPreProcessor to calibrate, register and integrate. Generated a combined Luminance using ImageIntegration. Applied a light Deconvolution to the Luminance (now that I know how to do it ;-). Then applied EZ Denoise to everything. Stretched everything manually using HistogramTransformation and then applied a LinearFit with Ha as a reference. Luminance then gets a mild sharpen with MultiscaleLinearTransform (with a Linear Mask enabled). ChannelCombination to combine into SHO. SCNR to remove green. Inverted and applied SCNR to help remove magenta halo's. CurvesTransformation to apply some contrast and little saturation boost. Then LRGBCombined it with the Luminance. Some more CurvesTransformation to apply some contract and more saturation. Finally a HDRMultiscaleTransform, LocalNormalization and a light DarkStructureEnhance.

Description: Reprocessed the same data with some new Photoshop techniques. Created separate luminosity from combined Ha, OIII and SII. Used Nik Collections for selective sharpening and contrast adjustment.
