      Description

This is a 3-frame, very deep mosaic of the Andromeda Galaxy. The total exposure time is 29.28 hr. The full mosaic has 84 Mega pixels. Different versions show the various layers of the very faint outer halo of M31.

Ver A: A normally processed image. Full image area, 25% size reduction.

Ver B: Same process as version A, but a 100% crop around the main body of M31.

Ver C: A strongly contrast-stretched version, to show the faint outer halo.

Ver D: An extremely stretched version, to show the dwarf galaxy, tidal streams, and some Galactic cirrus around M31.

Ver E (no longer available, will try to create it in the future when have time): Just for fun, this is the exposure time distribution of the image. The deepest region has an integration time of 14.62 hr (red area). The median integration time of the image is 7.66 hr (light green-cyan area).

Ver F: This picture was used as the cover photo of the 2018 Sep issue of Nature Astronomy (https://www.nature.com/natastron/volumes/2/issues/9)

      Enjoy.
