Description

Narrowband : Ha Ha OIII OIII.

The red dragon's head near the top is NGC 2014. The very bright Oxygen region at the right is NGC 2029. The "small" bright cluster near the centre is NGC 2011 and the large complex at the left is made up of NGCs 1955, 1968 and 1974. Cropped revision for better composition.

The LMC is about 163,000 light years away from us. So the sizes of some of the displayed objects are :

Dragon's head including smoke above its nostrils - 658 light years

Blue circular nebula to the right of the dragon's head - 151 light years

Bright blue NGC 2029 including the red-blue "flowers" at its right side - 478 light years

NGC 1955, 1968 and 1974 complex at the left - 988 light years.

These objects are BIG!
