Description

NGC 1360, a planetary nebula in Fornax. A dying star in the centre has shed its outer atmosphere to form an exceptionally hot white dwarf which causes the bubble of out-flowing gas to glow turquoise and shades of red. Distance 1150 ly.

Description: Another view but at the longer focal length of 1500mm, f12.1. I also used some of the original RGB data at 1000mm to good effect. Red emission is very weak in this object, but note the subtle magenta shades and the little reddish tail of hydrogen emission to the left of the object. LRGB = 4.5hr
