Description

When it finally cleared for a night on the 5th of January I managed to get some rather good data on the Rosette Nebula. Now I am confused about what colours look best for the Rosette, and I cannot decide (I started a thread about this on SGL). Maybe it is ok to have a few versions. Googling for images gives a range from deep red to pale orange-brown. My first one came out red, but now I have a pale orange-brown version too. I assume I am not the only one wondering how to decide on colour balancing astronomical images (they all look rather gray through an eyepiece). So, here is the second of my two versions.

Taken with an Explore Scientific ED127 with 0.79 x TS Photoline reducer and a Canon 60Da at ISO 1600. 8 x 10 min. No darks (it was -14 °C so a frosty camera with very little noise). On a NEQ6 with finderguider.
