Description

Was discovered by Johann Bode in the late 1700s. Just a few years later, it was discovered by Messier and added to his catalog. Bode also was involved in the discovery of Uranus and proposed the name.

This image was shot over many nights from the backyard in January and is the highest total integration I've done so far. I may take another stab at this one later. I wasn't too happy with how the stars looked, but I was doing everything I could to bring out the detail in the galaxies.

If I had framed it a little better, I could've gotten the Coddington galaxy which was just BARELY out of the field of view. I could actually see it on some of the individual frames, but there were too many frames where it was not visible, so I couldn't include it in the final shot.
