Description

Another image taken with a new ZWO capture device. More info soon.

My first ever mosaic. This was extremely easy to do with the device in question. I didn't bother rotating my camera around to make this with less panels, so I used 6 panels to cover both objects with a good 25% overlap. Took the total time available to me for one night, figured out total number of minutes available and calculated out how many subs I needed for each panel to complete it overnight. 18 five minute subs into each of the 6 panels.

That's not a ton of integration time per panel, so I wasn't sure how good this would turn out. But using the narrowband filter made it a bit easier.

Processing was a little challenging due to my light pollution. I made the rookie mistake of fully integrating all six panels from the get go, only to find out there were massive issues with light pollution. In my second attempt at processing, I stacked each panel separately, removed light pollution from each, then star aligned and mosaic combined the finished panels. This worked perfectly and I only had to process this thing as a giant image. 10,000+ x 10,000+ pixels. My M1 Ultra Studio Mac processed it with ease.

Title: SHO from a duo-band filter?

Description: I came across Bill Blanshan's video on YouTube where he write a PixelMath equation that he calls Narrowband Normalization which can convert a duo-band image with a color camera into an SHO approximation. It worked pretty good, and with a bunch of tweaks I got this new result. Here's a link to his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=PpIOSSj4L5g&ab_channel=AnotherAstroChannel
