Description

Pushing the limits of the SCT11"...

Details from Io, at only 1.080".

Usually Io shows this "skewed" appearence, almost ovoid, mostly due to very large albedo variations over its surface. The bright spot at left here, I suppose, is Loki Patera region, at least according to the WinJupos simulation (at right) and SkySafari mapping.

It would be interesting to know true brightness variations of this feature thru time, maybe it is even possible to detect the effect of fresh lava spills, I think?

SCT 11", f/30, ASI224MC Cooled, best 8 frames stacked with Registax, from a total of 12 minutes of captures, 400% enlargment with PixInsight.
