Description

This was my first time capturing a galaxy, let alone two! I look at it now and think about all kinds of ways I could have improved this image, but this was my first real test with post-processing with Pixinsight and I think I was just happy seeing my first ever galaxy shot! I would love to come back to this Messier at a later date.

12 million LY away in constellation Ursa Major, the smaller Cigar-galaxy is known as a starburst, as it once passed through the larger Bode's-galaxy, in which it was ignited and basically blew up - 5x greater luminosity than the Milky Way, and 100x more luminous in its core!
