This image has been completely reprocessed with my most recent procedure (Oct 2022).
It's amazing to see how much progress is made all the time, using the same tools and the same pre-processed images as 3 years ago...
The filter used for the luminance is a Baader UHC-S filter.
The name of this nebula comes from the flower, the iris: the colors and the shape are indeed reminiscent of a flower. The blue is due to the young central star reflecting its light through the surrounding intergalactic clouds.
The spread of its petals stretches over nearly 6 light-years.

Cette image a été retraitée complètement avec ma procédure la plus récente (Oct 2022).
C'est stupéfiant de voir comme on progresse tout le temps, en utilisant les mêmes outils et les mêmes images prétraitées qu'il y a 3 ans...
Le filtre utilisé pour la luminance est un filtre UHC-S de Baader.
Le nom de cette nébuleuse provient de la fleur, l'iris: les couleurs et la forme font en effet penser à une fleur. Le bleu est dû à la jeune étoile centrale reflétant sa lumière au travers des nuages intergalactiques environnants.
L'étalement de ses pétales s'étire sur près de 6 années-lumière.

Submitted The date and time when you submitted this image for IOTD/TP consideration.	...
Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
