The original image is from an LRGB combination only. The revised final image made a significant improvement when combining the final Ha data.

On display are examples of red emission nebula, blue reflection nebula and dark nebula. A curved section of dark nebulosity (LDN1606 & LDN1607), connects the largest blue area of nebulosity, (IC 447) with the blueish IC 446 forming a shape that resembles a long neck gourd. The red emission are part of the Cone Nebula. Above NGC 2247 is the dark nebula B37 where very little reflection takes place with the dust absorbing the light.

I went ahead and added the 10 1800 second Ha subs to this image and was careful to add the data with employed use of Star Mask to put a cap on any overblown star issues.The data from this image is really clean and possibly my best processed image to date.

I really liked the way this turned out and with the new 2017 flat 's I can really see an improvement.

Thanks Fritz for your feedback. I did correct a few things in this final revised correction by actually using no noise reduction at all. The data set is so low in noise that employing it would defeat the purpose of very clear deep sky's imaged from. I did do LHE while mask was in place and also did a small amount of sharpening in Photoshop Raw tool as well. I also did not use HDR Multiscale wavelets which just blew out the star cores to much . Overall I like the image much more.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
