Description

My First ever picture of a deep sky object

M42 - The Orion Nebula is another very popular deep sky object in our own Milky Way Galaxy and can be found the Orion Constellation. This star forming region is around 1400 light years from earth and is about 2000 times larger than our sun. On a clear night, this Great Orion Nebulae is visible with the naked eye, as noted first by the early Mayan civilisation. It is stunning to view through a telescope, but the colours really only come through long-exposure photography. As a stellar nursery, clumps of hydrogen and other gases form together under their own increasing gravity and to date, there have been observations of over 700 stars born inside M42, each with their own solar system. The molecular cloud of elemental dust is believed to have formed from supernovae explosions, where their explosive death provided the nescessary matter to give rise to the birth of new stars. The oldest star in the Nebula is believed to be 300,000 years old and the youngest 10,000 years old and in about 100,000 years, it is believed that the nebula will be ejected out leaving behind an open cluster. Enjoy and please feel free to pm me for further details.
