Description

The second trial with the William Optics GTF81. I am still trying to figure out how long I can expose without guiding. These are 90 second single frames, but I had to remove quite a lot because of trails. The alignment of the mount was not perfect. I am also not so happy with the stars, it looks like I get some serious "IR bloating" due to the removed lowpass-2 filter of the Canon. I did not replace it with an novel IR/UV block filter. This will hopefully get better as soon as I use the Astronomik CLS-CCD filter.

I am quite happy with the galaxies though. Of course I do not see the wonderful H-alpha jet from M82, it is just too shortly exposed. I will try this object again the other night with increased exposure time for single frames and hopefully more integration time in summary.

By the way, it was a pain to find those galaxies without GoTo under this polluted sky, took me around 30 minutes on my knees...

Best regards from Switzerland,

Jan
