Description

I decided to reprocess my image of Comet 41P Tuttle today that I imaged on 3-21-17. I acquired a lot

of data that night that I did not use on the first image I processed. My image that I reprocessed

today is different than my previous image. The core of the comet looks different than most of

the other comets I've imaged.

The core is almost rectangle shaped and split down the middle. Only one other time did I see a core similar to this in one of my

comet images and I assumed it was an artifact or mutation from the aligning and stacking process. So I

proceeded to try and fix it in the processing. However now since it has happened twice I'm not

so sure it is a processing artifact. Today I also saw another image of Comet Tuttle on this site that

has the same core as the image I reprocessed. I decided to share my image to see what everyone else thinks. I hope that the detail of the core is visible enough to where the people

that view my image can see what I'm talking about. Is this an image of the actual core or is it

a mutation maybe caused by the aligning and stacking process? Your opinion would be appreciated.
