Description

This globular is well placed at this time of year, and makes a lovely image, if rather inconspicuous in the eyepiece. At a distance of ~60,000 light years it is relatively close, and getting closer, apparently approaching us at ~100 km/s [Seds.org].

Some lovely colours and dispersion from a core that you almost feel you could resolve (if we wait long enough we will This globular is often overlooked in favour of the great northern globular in Hercules, which rises a couple of hours later.
