Description

M13 - Great Cluster in Hercules

A test of a diffraction mask that I made to add something to the bright stars as I think it makes the image more interesting.

Messier 13 was discovered in 1714 by Edmond Halley and is located in the constellation of Hercules. It is a gravitationally bound mass of hundreds of thousands of stars. It is approximately 145 ly across and over 25000 ly away and is visible with small telescopes and binoculars.
