Description

I continue my quest for finding and processing rarely imaged galaxies in the Liverpool Telescope database.

This is an RGB image of NGC7015, and probably by far the best image available of this galaxy.

No entry for it in the English Wikipedia but according to the Bosnian Wikipedia NGC 7015 (also known as IRAS 21032 + 1112, MCG 2-53-12, PGC 66076 and UGC 11674) is about 224 million light years from the Earth and is located in the constellation Equuleus. The largest diameter is 118,000 light years. The first discovery was made Marie Jean Edouard Stephan 29 September 1878. Coordinates 21h 05m 37,4s +11° 24′ 51″

Filters and exposures used (all from 2014 06 24 - 2016 09 23):

sdss-r 19 x 90 s (red channel)

Bessell V 8 x 90 s (green channel)

Bessell B + sdss-g 23 x 90 s (blue channel)
