Description

Abell 33 is a spherical planetary nebula in the constellation Hydra and is located approximately 2700 LY's away.  Although the star HD83535 gives the nebula its diamond ring effect it is not associated with the nebula and is just in its line of sight as seen from the earth.  The blue coloring of the nebula is due to the strong emission from oxygen.  This image was made using the OIII frames added to both the luminance and blue masters.
