Description

IC2177, the Seagull Nebula. In the region of the Sirius, this is an emission nebula/star forming region that glows brightly in the Hydrogen Alpha range.

The region is approximately 100ly across, and is approximately 3800ly from Earth.

This image is an integration of approximately 4 hrs of imaging data and is large enough that I had to crop the left 'wing' of the Seagull off slightly so as to keep the bright star at the tip of the right wing within the frame
