Description

CTB 1 is an odd designation that I hadn't heard of until recently.   It stands for Cal Tech Radio sources list B, object 1.   This obscure list has a couple of interesting objects for optical / photographic interest.   CTB 1 is a large but very faint supernovae remnant, once thought to be a planetary nebula (hence the Abell designation), but confirmed in 1960 as a SNR.   It lies 10K light-years distant and is thought to be ~10K years old.

I believe this object is about the limit of what my OSC gear and post-processing setup can achieve without filters (and a much larger disk).    It about killed my laptop while processing the sub exposures.    In any case, it's a worthy object in a very rich field.   It yields it's treasures unwillingly at best!
