Description

I was imaging a luminance stack for NGC 7331, and I noticed in one of my 180" subs, I had a visitor in the form of a jet air liner.  What struck me about this frame is that although the lights at the wing tips are streaks as expected, the fuselage looks kind of like a ghost plane, but the engines especially are in almost tack sharp focus!  If anyone knows how this could come to be in a 180" exposure I'd love to know.  To summarize, here we have NGC 7331, and next to it a jet air liner.  Two streaks where the wingtip lights went through the frame, a ghostly looking fuselage, and two engines in almost perfect focus.  Almost seems like a one and a million shot!

I ultimately ended up with a very nice stack of NGC 7331 and Stephan's Quintet, but this one exposure was probably the coolest I've ever gotten, despite not being able to use it in the final stack, due to RA tracking getting a big spike as a result of the jet messing with the guide star in the OAG.
