Description

May meant it good to me, long stretches of clear skies, not too cold and not too hot to be outside, those are the times an astro photographer cherishes. And the target that I chose is the (IMHO) underrated LBN331 (with LBN 336 in the lower left corner). I believe the name "Cygnus Wave" is the best description of this bright nebula. The upper part looks like a wave front coming to shore, pretty cool.
I chose the SHO combination for this target, which is very often shown in HOO or variants of it, Pete (@pete_xl, do not ask me why the link feature is not working for me, maybe someone can help me with this, a special setting that needs to be turned on?) shows this very nice image just recently here: https://www.astrobin.com/9gz2uk/.
This is also the set of data that my friend Scott (@wsg) processed not that long ago, please take a look at his image here: https://www.astrobin.com/n8vsux/
The comparison is interesting! I think that his choice of color assignment was a great one, the image has a totally different and magnificent look to it. He also could bring out much better the little OIII stream in the upper left.
Maybe the best image of this area ever was done by Min (@mxcoppel) shown here: https://www.astrobin.com/5nz0ql/, which rightly deserved the IOTD (not a rare accomplishment for him 😊😊). Actually, his image inspired me to try LBN 331 again, but I have to admit that I cannot even get close to his magnificence. My previous attempt can be seen here: https://www.astrobin.com/7p1t82/?nc=&nce=, and IMHO I improved a bit from it with this one.
