Description

Containing several DSOs, the Taurus Molecular cloud is a nearby region only ~400 light-years away.   It's a well studied stellar nursery.   In this image, the Baby Eagle nebula, LBN 777 is shown, along with lots of faint tenuous strands of dust and gas from the broader cloud.

What I find interesting beyond the obvious shape of the nebula is what looks like a very faint and tenuous bow shock wave above the head of the eagle.  At first glance, it could be mistaken for a curved diffraction spike from the star over the eagle's head, but it is not associated with the star.   I couldn't find any information about this structure, but it has a large extent on both sides of the broader nebula.
