Description

A spectral comparison of five B-class stars with emission components.

Navi, NT Peg, and 31 Peg are classical Be stars, where the emission arises from a decretion disk of matter being 'centrifuged' off of the rapidly rotating star.

Sheliak is a semi-detached binary, where the emission arises from matter accreted onto the star by an expanding companion star.

P Cyg is a luminous blue variable, a massive giant star at the latter stages of its evolution. The emission arises from matter radially ejected from the star by a strong stellar wind.

The spectroscopy setup is shown here and here.
