Description

I only had a few hours of clear sky at least according to Astrospheric, so I decided to try and image IC 5068.  I  chose the Optolong L-eNhance filter thinking it might be best filter to use vs the L-Ultimate given the sky conditions.  Around 00:15, guiding failed due to incoming clouds, I looked outside trying to judge if I could continue, but again according to Astrospheric the clouds where here to stay the night, so I shutdown.  However, about 45 min later the clouds were gone, but by that time I had already readied for sleep so I called it a night, as usual I found myself wishing I had a fully automated observatory.

IC5068 is a faint emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus. Dark dust falls across the cloud of ionized hydrogen making IC5068 an interesting target to image.  IC5068 lies around 1,600 light-years away from Earth. IC5068 is close to the North American and Pelican nebulae, which I think give IC5068 its popularized name as the Forsaken Nebula..
