Description

This is Messier 101 (#M101), also known as the Pinwheel Galaxy. After the discovery of a recent supernova, SN 2023ixf, I decided to give this target a try with my wide angle RedCat51.
Could use a larger focal length but pretty content with this one as the skies are less dark these days, resulting in less available exposure times. Also frames were shut during full moon causing some colored background gradients and loss of signal.

Pixinsight process involved WBPP, DynamicBackgroundExtraction, ChannelCombination, SpectroPhotometricColorCalibration, BlurXTerminator, HistogramTransformation, masked appliance of NoiseXTerminator and CurvesTransformation. Final adjustments in Photoshop.

Setup contains ASI533mm Pro, RedCat 51, HEQ5 Pro, ASI120mm S (for auto-guiding) and ASIAir ✨

🔭 Clear skies!
