Sun, Sun spots and Glider (20230504)I continued to document the further development of the sunspots, which I was able to photograph from the
3rd of May 2023 (the day before
this day). Shortly after the start of my
SER video recording, a
glider surprisingly rushed through my field of view. I missed it completely with my eyes when I only notice a very short flickering on my tablet's display ... out of the corner of my eye. 'It must have been a
bird ...', I said to myself, because that happens occasionally, here in the mountains.
Only much later, when I routinely scrolled through the almost 1000 images of the
SER video one by one in order to assess the
seeing, I found to my great surprise that the '
bird' was a lightning-fast
glider! Because it was only a few kilometers away from me, it shows up comparatively large on this image. As the original single frame was shot at a minimal
0.32µs exposure time, it came out blueish (from the
Astrosolar Filter Foil and grayish from the short exposure time. Thus I stacked the 120 best images as usual, leaving this one alone. Actually it took more time and trials than I had expected to carefully overlay the glider (single frame) over the nicely stacked image again. I did this with
Gimp using
layers of course to not mess up the otherwise fine original.
Actually, this was a nice
bad weather project again because we haven't seen clear skies for many(!!) weeks, here in the
Alps.
