Description

After the ET Cluster, the Coathanger is one of my favorite clusters to show at an outreach event. It is an object that somewhat resembles its name and has nice contrasting star colors.   It requires an eyepiece with a FOV of 1.5 degrees to show the complete cluster and without a go to mount requires a bit of star hopping to find.

Also in this field of view left of the Coathanger is the dark nebula LDN 741 which contrasts well against the background stars of the Milky way.  In the lower right corner is the start of the huge dark nebula the Vulpecula Rift that is easily visible naked eye from a dark site.

There is also some interesting blue reflection nebulosity below the Coathanger.
