Description

My first official full Hubble palette image. I have owned the Optolong Narrowband filters for a couple of years now and I have really only been using the HA filter from the set. I have also incorporated luminance into the image as well but to be honest it really didn't make a lot of difference as the HA is so dominant in this image. I used RGB for star data.

The Eagle Nebula is part of a diffuse emission nebula, or H II region, which is catalogued as IC 4703. This region of active current star formation is about 5700 light-years distant. A spire of gas that can be seen coming off the nebula in the north-eastern part is approximately 9.5 light-years or about 90 trillion kilometres long.
