Description

I do not often do images of broad swaths of sky that are full of nebulae. And I don't often do straight on narrowband images either. But I was ready to do something a little different and thought to myself that wherever one might point an instrument in Cygnus, one will find something interesting. So I simply did just that...

In the resulting image, we have a lot of gas and dust and this includes a portion of the IC1318A, open cluster IC1311 and Barnard 343. I was really pleased with the IC1311 cluster. Also in the field is a PN that does not appear to be in any catalog but is known as Patchick 6. I was very pleased that this appeared in the field and I think I would like to do more PN subjects going forward.

After I did this, I sort of lamented the fact that I did not re-frame this to include more of IC1318A but still, I was not surprised to find all these other subjects in the 1.4 degree radius field.

I processed this using methods from The Coldest Nights NB combination tutorials which are very nice and I appreciate that he made them available for others to use. So thank you to ForaxX!

I hope you like this one, it was interesting to do and a nice way to do something a little different.
