Hi all!

I have no time lately for taking new pictures and my remote observatory is down needing mainteinance... This means, for me, "take old images and try to give them a better look!".
This image is exactly that, a mix-composite of old images of this very known subject. I've completely re-worked various image sets that I have taken during the years from differnt locations with differnt setups. I've tried to get the best from all of them in this composite view of the Cocoon Nebula. The total imaging time is well over 30 Hours of datas ranging from pure RGB to Luminance to H-Alpha. I've used, as a base image, the one I've published in 2011 on Astrobin wich was a lso a composited one. I've also included datas fro my recent wide field cocoon taken with my Epsilon and, using increasing resolution I've managed to make the final composite. Best res images has been acquired with an OS Pro RC 400 scope while wide field ones starting from a 152 Hyper APO refractor at Pic du Midi to my Epsilon. I've only used the best frames to try to enhance fine details in the nebula, I hope I'm not overdone to the deconvolution/sharpening side but I've had lot of fun in exagerating very fine contrasts. Anyway this is my new revision of the Cocoon Nebula with newer editing techniques also including separate flows for nebulas and stars.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
Promotions by Reviewers When 3 distinct Reviewers promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for IOTD status.
Early dismissal Staff members have a lot of images to inspect on a daily basis, and they can dismiss images if they believe they don't meet the requirements for IOTD/TP selection. If an image is dismissed 5 times, it's removed from the process. This streamlines the process and ensures that any bias present in promotions could be overruled by other staff members.
