Description

Designated as NGC 7789 and located in Cassiopeia, this open star cluster is approximately 8,000 light years from Earth and about 1.6 billion years old. Open star clusters are defined as groups of up to a few thousand younger stars that are loosely bound together by gravity. A star’s color provides a direct measurement of its surface temperature; the hottest stars shine blue-white, while the coolest are dull orange or red.
