Description

I didn't intend on imaging M31 tonight. I really wanted to try and image the Double Cluster in

Perseus. However the Double Cluster never rose above some Oak trees in my neighbors yard.

A little later this year I should be able to image it easily. I imaged M11 first tonight waiting on

the Double Cluster to get higher in the sky. Since the Double Cluster didn't get high enough I

quickly decided to image M31. I've not imaged it with my AT72ED so I felt this would be a good

opportunity. The sky seemed clear but there was a very light haziness for lack of a better

description which affected transparency. Also after taking about half of my light frames the

Moon reared it's head and caused problems with light gradients in a lot of my light frames.

To begin with M31 was very low in the sky which also caused problems. I'm not complaining I'm

just explaining. I was tickled that I was able to do some imaging even if the sky was less than

perfect. M31 has always been challenging for me because of the dynamics in the object. It

has a very bright core but the dust lanes/spiral arm structure is relatively dim. Anyway with

all of that said I did get an image of M31. It's not necessarily the best image I've taken of

this object but I will gladly take it. Please enjoy.
