For my first galaxy shot with my 9.25 EDGEHD setup (at F10), I decided to go for a bit of a challenge- framing NGC7331 and Stephan's Quintet in the same frame. With the level of light pollution here (perhaps Bortle 6 on maps but not sure how much this varies depending on haze/transparency) I wasn't sure what to expect. I was hoping to be able to at least reveal the intergalactic filament in Stephan's Quintet as well as some reasonable color saturation during processing, but wasn't sure if this was feasible. I intended to acquire more data but weather, schedule and moon hasn't allowed this for now. With only 4 hours of integration I pushed processing as far as I could (maybe a bit too far), but am still learning PI.

Overall I'm happy with the result so far and amazed at what can be processed out of subs that look like the example uncalibrated sub I uploaded here. In the processed image I see a hint of the filament as well as a number of faint background galaxies throughout the frame and, I think, reasonable color balance/saturation. I hope to be able to be able to at least double the integration time at some point in a few weeks and then take another stab at processing. Any suggestions welcome.

Views by Submitters (available since September 19th, 2023) Every image is assigned to 50% of available Submitters. In the event that at least 80% of them don't view the image before its time in the IOTD/TP process expires, it's assigned to the other 50% of Submitters and the process begins anew.
Promotions by Submitters When 3 distinct Submitters promote the image, it moves on to the next stage of the process: evaluation for Top Pick status. This requirement, in addition to anonymization of images and distribution to only a subset of them, prevents biases and ensures that the best images are selected.
