Description

Panorama of Milky Way at Piedras Rojas (in English "Red Stones"), Atacama, Chile.

Absolutely incredible night at a place I've never seen astrophotography before during this expedition. Close to 4000m and a temperature between -12 to -10oC we got a 360o of clear sky during the whole night without any clouds at all.
The sky starts with a blue tone and, as the time passes, it changes to a stunning air glow with green and yellow tones over the most beautiful mountains formation including reddish, green, gray/blue stones.
It is so gratifying to get such an opportunity of a combination of stunning landscape with the just perfect possible sky ever after watching a awesome sunset where the mountains changed colors several times.
Piedras Rojas (in English "Red Stones"), a singular rock formation in the Aguas Calientes salt lake, high puna of northern Chilean Andes.
The Aguas Calientes salt lake belongs to the bigger Talar salt lake, of a surface of 46 square kilometres (18 sq mi) and located at an altitude of 3,950 metres (12,960 ft).
We were between the vulcans Miñiques and Caichinque and Argentine is just behind the mountains and vulcans at the horizon.
(1st: shot- 2 min panorama + 10x15sx12 panorama for the sky. 2nd and 3rd single shot panoramas)
