Description

My first attempt at capturing the Pleiades with my new setup. I like the initial results, but I think a few more hours especially for the luminance channel would bring out more detail.

I tried different exposure lengths (60", 30" and 15") when I captured the images to try and do an HDR, but my 60" exposure wasn't even saturating so I just used the 60" exposures for this image and abandoned the HDR for now. Next time I'll have include longer exposures to try and bring out some more of the faint background nebulosity and combine that with 60" data using PixInsight's HDRComposition tool.

Description: Restacked the subs completely in PixInsight. This is the first time I've done the entire processing in PI, and I'm quite happy with the result. The background is much smoother and more consistent vs. DSS, although it is WAY more complex to do in PI. Still I'll probably go back and reprocess most of my images this way, and use a PI-only workflow going forward.
