Description

My sky was not perfect tonight but it was better than the last two nights I imaged. Like

the last two nights there were high thin clouds moving around. I actually wanted to try

and image Markarian's Chain tonight but it was not high enough in the sky. My house

and some oak trees across the street were blocking the view. I decided to image IC 1848

the Soul Nebula while I was waiting for Markarian's Chain to move higher in the sky. I've

never imaged IC 1848. I tried several different iso settings and exposures and finally picked

a combination that I thought would work. IC 1848 is a lot like IC 1805. They are both

relatively dim nebulas and for me hard to image and process. I did get an image but I'll

be the first to admit that it's not the greatest image of this object that I've seen. However

I'm pleased that I did get an image. Please enjoy my first image of IC 1848 the Soul Nebula.

While I was imaging tonight I decided to bring out my 8 Inch Dobsonian and do some

star gazing. I've not done that in a while and thoroughly enjoyed it. I viewed 40 Messier

objects a few NGC objects. It was really a treat.
