Description

This object, also known as Caldwell 66, is a remote globular cluster located at a distance of over 100,000 light-years away in the constellation of Hydra. It is interesting that it is further away from earth than the official diameter of our galaxy. Because it is one of the most remote star clusters in our galaxy, it is faint and small, and the stars are difficult to resolve. It is believed to contain about 250,000 stars.

According to recent studies, it is moving fast enough to eventually escape our galaxy and move into intergalactic space.

As far as I can determine, this is the first image of this object on Astrobin. This is a bit surprising to me, given its Caldwell designation.
