The Cocoon Galaxy is the name given to two galaxies in the constellation Canes Venatici, which are interacting and distorting each other through gravity.

This image was produced from a stack of 18 x 300s unguided subs. Once the image was stacked I experimented with the APF-R technique, which can be found by following the link:

This technique really pulls out the faint structural data from the galaxy. Thanks to Frank Schmitz for putting me onto it. I will certainly be using it from now on.
