Description

Continuing to experiment with generating animations.

My first attempt at a planetary animation. A little rough, but a fun learning experience... This was generated using the same approach as my May 8th Jupiter animation. This animated GIF was generated using a sequence of 15 images of Jupiter and Io starting at 02:50 and ending around 03:34 UTC on May 9, 2018. Each image is a stack of the best 10% of typically 8000-9000 frames captured over 60 seconds. I ran an imaging capture run every ~3 minutes (there was a 10 minute gap in the middle of the sequence though). The animation was generated using the free online animation tool at: http://gifmaker.me/. I'm happier with this second try as the consistency between the image frames in the sequence is a bit better. I'm thinking you can see the effect of field rotation from my Alt-Az mount as Jupiter appears to tilt over the course of the sequence....
