Description

The Veil Nebula is a super nova remnant discovered in September 1784 by William Herschel. This beautiful lace work shows the shockwave of a super nova that exploded 5000-8000 years ago. The shockwave is exciting the tenuous interstellar medium and making it glow, lying 1900 light years away in the constellation Cygnus, the entire complex is 100 light years across, this is only one segment of the entire complex.
