Description

My new take on the Eagle Nebula and Pillars of Creation, made so famous by NASA and the Hubble. Most important to this new view is a modified camera enabling an enhanced capability for H-alpha, as well as inevitably more exposures, and a more refined LLRGB workflow in Photoshop. Most significant in this new view is the Stellar Spire, 9 light years long--yet totally missed in my last effort. The Spire is left and up from the Pillars, which also show a little more contrast in this view.

The Eagle or Star Queen is a difficult challenge for us in mid-north latitudes, it is never high in the sky and from a city location there is a terrific amount of light pollution, not to mention atmospheric dispersion, this low in the sky. Still she is a remarkable view that deserves as much attention as we can give her.
