Description

This is a very simple test of my new ASI290MM camera with EdgeHD11 at f/10 and 3nm narrowband Ha filter. The lagoon nebula is mostly thought of as a large, interesting nebula, but there is a central feature that is interesting by itself at high res.

I have imaged it with good detail previously here:

https://astrob.in/228004/0/

and the Hubble did a good job, with description, here:

https://www.nasa.gov/feature/goddard/2017/messier-8-the-lagoon-nebula

But this image was particularly easy because there was no guiding or even calibration involved. All I did was capture some frames with ASICAP - and then stack them with AutoStakkert. No flats, bias or darks.

This is from a stack of 100 2s images - with I think 50% rejected. No sharpening applied - this is the raw output from AutoStakkert - with levels applied in PhotoShop.
