Description

The mandatory Andromeda picture!

Conditions were not that good, lots of lightpollution tnx to the high humidity. Clouds were drifting by, with the sky completely covered by times. in addtion the guiding went completely bezirk for unknown reasons, maybe bad cable management: 3 to 4" jumps in the PHD2 graph and sometimes RA or Dec going totally off chart! nice...

Anyhow pleased nevertheless, it could use a lot more data I guess: this is only 45 minutes ; main objective was to test the 3" TS0.79x Focal Reducer of the FF Nikon. Stars are pretty sharp overall, but there is some noticable vignetting that needs to be flatted out ; also visible in the subs is an interaction with the Optolong Pro LPS filter giving round interference gradients. A remnant of that is visible in the upper right corner of this image.

the F5 versus the F7 should however result in about 2x faster imaging ; I'm not sure how the pixelscale of 2,2"/pix versus 1,4"/pix will be noticeable?
