Description

About 12K light-years distant, the HII region IC 410 houses the young star cluster NGC 1893.  The cluster is estimated to be only 4 million years old, and contains ~4500 objects, spanning 100 light-years.  The intense solar winds from the largest stars in the cluster are driving gas and dust away from the central region.  Two 10 light-year pillar like structures form the Tadpoles, structures that will undoubtedly yield new stars from within those gas clouds.  In this OSC view, some of the broader region is not shown so as to highlight the Tadpoles, the star cluster, and the central region.
